For Ruth, on her eighteenth

By the time you read this you will be taller than me, and I will have told you these things in person more than once. I wanted them written down as well, somewhere they could not be mislaid.

The method · Three steps

How a note becomes permanent.

  1. 01

    Write

Choose an occasion, write your words, and confirm you understand a sealed note is permanent.

  2. 02

    Review

A person reads every note before anything is sealed. Nothing is permanent until then, and we email you either way.

  3. 03

    Seal

Your words are written to a public archive. You receive a permanent link and a certificate that proves them.

Honesty, on the record

An honest promise.

What we guarantee

Anyone holding the transaction ID can recover this note from a public archive and confirm the words are unchanged. No account, and no permission from us.

What we cannot

We will not pretend any single company lasts forever, ours included. That is the reason your note is kept outside of us, where it does not depend on our survival.

How permanence works, and how to verify it yourself
Endurance

A record you can leave, and one that does not depend on us to keep it.

Your words are written to a public archive and held outside this company. The identifier on your note is the whole key: keep it, and the words can always be recovered and proven, long after any single service, ours included, is gone.
